Avis des voyageurs

Decent hotel for one of the cheaper options in Waikiki. The room feels more like a studio apartment, as it comes with a sofa, mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker and kitchen sink. (Yes, everything AND the kitchen sink!) Room service is only every 3 days, and the room itself is a little bit dirty-ish and a bit behind the times, but if you've stayed at older places near beaches before, you know the vibe. It's fine, perfectly livable and comfortable. Only thing I wish is that they had a bathtub. It's tucked away in a very quiet corner, but a 2 minute walk gets you to a busy street, and a 7 minute walk gets you to the beach. It's actually kind of nice to be able to get away from all the action at the end of the day. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and would do so again.

I was surprised to find a hotel in this location for a fair price, only to be met by the extra $35/night charge upon checking in which was annoying. The lady at the service desk, had lots of attitude although it was late so maybe she was just tired. It’s okay, I get it. Upon exiting the elevator, floors were incredibly dirty and halls were dimly lit, i genuinely felt creeped out walking to the room. After entering my suite, at first glance I liked what i saw, until I saw stains on just about everything in my room. The curtains next to my headboard had snot or boogers or something just spread all over it. My pillows had a few strands of hairs so i’m not sure they cleaned the casings. I wanted to sit on the couch but there was massive stains just riddled all over the couch, I was genuinely disgusted. The curtains looks like it was ripped and taped back together. Bathroom looks okay, and there is shampoo, conditioner, and soap, although at this price, that’s expected. Location is convenient, but it literally looks like they tried to give me the most disgusting room available. Was told there is no refund. Will not be staying here again.

I have stayed here several times. As a solo female traveler, I appreciate the front desk open even when I arrive late in the evening. I could stay somewhere that costs a little less, but I like to swim in the pool. Unfortunately, it was closed my entire 4 day stay this visit. It's the only amenity I use, except the newspaper, so I asked for a partial refuned of the amenities fee, but the manager refused. Rooms are a bit small, but adequate for me.

TRAVELLER BEWARE Very disappointed to have to pay a resort fee, $35 per night. For 11 nights in Australian dollars was nearly another $600.00for what IS only a very small pool, use of beach towels and a Hawaiian newspaper. I was not told of it by Agotels, where I booked it through and then to find out about the additional charges prior. This was an additional $600.00 The receptionist said that it wasn’t called a resort fee, however on booking.com it stipulated a resort fee. This really wrecked my holiday as I had to figure out how I was going to fund it.

The room was cozy and very comfortable, had the things we need such as soap, shampoo conditioner, clean towels and best of all coffee. The place was quiet, so had a good night's rest

Overall it was a great experience. The location was right on the beach and there was plenty of restaurants. There's a cafe across the street for a coffee run. They provided free tickets to the Bishop Museum and HoMA, and a beach towel. The AC was comfortable too. The elevator was slow and I took the stairs.

Probably the best hotel at this price point in Honolulu. I stay at a hotel in Honolulu on a weekly basis, and have stayed at many different properties. Aloha Aqua Surf is one of my favorites, and one that I keep coming back to. The location is great. If you’re not familiar with the area, first glance at a map might make it look like this hotel is a little further out. It’s not. It’s as good if not better than any of the larger hotel chains in Waikiki for location. 1-2 extra minutes of walking and you’re at a property set back into an area that’s slightly heavier on residential properties, and with less noise than you’d get from a few blocks down. The staff are all great - I had an issue where I need a replacement key because I accidentally took the beach towel card with me instead of the room key - they helped me quickly and with compassion. Like most hotels in Honolulu, this one too has an elevator out of service. It’s not worked during any of my stays. But it’s a smaller hotel so operating on a single elevator wasn’t much of an issue. Rooms are a little dated, curtains in need of replacement, outlets could do with being checked over as some are a little loose. But incredibly comfortable bed, the room holds good temperature and cleanliness is fantastic. Regarding cleanliness, almost every one of my stays I’ve found a note under the door advising of routine pest control. I’m confident that they are diligent here about pests, and I’ve never experienced an issue with bugs. Never experienced any noise staying here - my most restful nights in Honolulu are at this hotel!

We stayed on Honululu overnight to catch a connecting flight & chose to stay at Aqua. It provided exactly what we needed...a comfortable, quiet place to stay. The extra bonus of having a coffee on the small balcony in the morning was a definite perk.
