Guest reviews

What a beautiful hotel! The staff is very friendly. The room is spacious and decorated with modern accents. We thoroughly enjoyed the fitness center which included an amazing pool and hot tub. The location of the hotel made it easy to walk to the cruise terminal. One improvement should be additional signage outside the hotel. It was a little difficult for others in our travel group to find the entrance. Overall, this was a positive way to spend time in Vancouver!

The Auberge Vancouver hotel cancelled my reservation at 12:30 AM and sold me the same room for three times my original *prepaid* rate when I could find no other lodging. When I arrived, the Auberge Vancouver representative told me my reservation had been cancelled because I wasn’t able to check in until after 12:00 AM due to my flight being delayed. Trip Advisor staff contacted the hotel after I let them know what had happened. Trip Advisor sent me an email message to let me know the Auberge Vancouver representative told them the same thing, that the reservation was cancelled due to late check-in and that it could not be reinstated. When I contacted the Auberge Vancouver in the morning, a different representative sent me an email message stating I had been scammed by a hack of booking.com and that I never had a valid reservation with them to be cancelled. Get your stories straight. Thankfully, Trip Advisor intervened and were able to refund me the original prepaid amount minus the first day and are working on refunding the cost of my stay after the hotel canceled my reservation. I can understand that booking.com was hacked at some point. However, based on several other reviews, many other guests have experienced similar scenarios at this hotel over a long period of time. Why is there no safeguard in place for travelers yet? Why hasn’t Auberge Vancouver begun confirming reservations on their books to determine whether they are valid prior to guests arriving? The front desk person turned me away in the middle of the night when I told him I did not want to pay three times the rate for a room I had already paid for. He told me I might be able to find a room at the back packers hostel if I could make it over there (pointing). I was a solo female traveler in a foreign country and it was 1:00 AM by then. What kind of establishment do you pride yourself to be? The Auberge Vancouver failed in that they had no regard for my basic safety. Not to mention I slept on a cot in my sister and brother-in-law’s hotel room at a different hotel for the duration of my trip because the other hotels I contacted had no vacancy.
