Abbiamo soggiornato all’Hotel Shanker e ci siamo trovati molto bene! Camere belle e confortevoli, colazione ottima, struttura molto pulita e personale davvero gentilissimo e disponibile. Nel complesso, un soggiorno molto piacevole!

La vista dalla finestra della camera non era delle migliori. L’hotel si trova a circa 1,5 km dal centro di Thamel, in una posizione leggermente fuori mano, con una strada di accesso un po’ buia la sera. Anche il rapporto qualità/prezzo è leggermente meno conveniente rispetto alla media della zona. Attenzione inoltre al servizio taxi da/per l’aeroporto: chiedete espressamente un taxi locale, altrimenti vi verrà proposto quello ufficiale a 25$, quando con un taxi locale si possono spendere appena 7$!

What I loved most about Hotel Shanker was its rich history and heritage. The architecture, the beautiful front lawn, and the overall look and feel of the property create a wonderful sense of nostalgia. Knowing that this was once a royal Rana palace makes the experience even more special. The entire place carries an old-world charm that takes you back in time.

The room and bathroom could have been a little more spacious. I understand that the smaller windows are part of the palace’s original architectural style, so that wasn’t an issue for me. The food was decent, although there is room for improvement in terms of quality and taste. The swimming pool wasn’t heated, which made the water too cold to enjoy comfortably. Other than that, everything was great.

Hotel de estilo colonial con habitaciones funcionales y cómodas. El desayuno fantástico. Las instalaciones muy completas y el personal muy amable.

Está apartado del centro, a unos 15 minutos andando, lo cual tiene la ventaja de la tranquilidad pero con el caos de tráfico de Katmandú no es muy práctico.
