Rooms and hostel were freezing Air conditioning was always on and set to 64cdegrees but it was even colder I. The rooms. Freezing. Had to wear a fleece coat and down jacket with hood to bed just to keep warm and I had 2 comforters too. I asked for them to turn down the AC but instead each day it got colder.

I absolutely loved this hostel! I've stayed in so many properties like this one that did not treat me well or just were not good places for various reasons. I can't begin to praise this one enough. They are very swift to answer any questions you have! When their cafe payment system did a glitch when I ordered, they were quick to fulfill my same order the next day, and refund things they didn't have. The wifi works perfectly, the sitting areas are peaceful even though we're right on the street, and they have a free pizza night on Wednesdays. The beds deserve their own praise. Pods like this are super comfortable, well insulated. Some reviews will say the charging bank didn't work for your phone, but mine did. The thing was the lights had to be on in the pod for the charger to work, so make sure you turn the light on and test that first. Lovely and comfortable. They deserve their own praise. The shower was wonderful. They have several different showers and some of them even have plastic stools. This really helped me because I hurt my foot on this trip so I was having some temporary mobility issues. I imagine that if you are someone looking for mobility aid friendly lodging, you will be happy to know this place took that into account with one shower that's spatial enough for mobility aid. They also have free soap and towels, that are lovely and clean. And speaking of clean, they are constantly working on that. This place was really wonderful about keeping it fresh smelling. Also, my pod was well ventilated and whatever they used to treat the sheets, they have such a pleasant scent! Surely more than I expected. It was like five star hotel treatment to find sheets that smelled so clean and fresh. The staff, the cafe, all were so far beyond what I normally expect from a place like this, that I can't really praise them enough. Also, bonus, the coffee is good. And right there. It's too good. Please think about staying here.

I'm using this box to continue praising the hostel because I honestly didn't have enough room in the box above. There really isn't anything to complain about. If you've stayed in a lot of hostels before, particularly in America, then you are going to find that this place is princess treatment over other places. And I wish I was exaggerating. I have had so many bad experiences that I was a little bit scared to stay here, but I decided to grin and bear it because this was the most affordable local option for work I had to come into the DMV to do. This place? I am not exaggerating saying that I was genuinely wondering where it had been the last few times I'd been to the District, because if I knew about it before, this would have been my first choice, and it will definitely be my choice whenever I have to come back.

They had a minor plumbing issue in one restroom that amounted to nothing more than an inconvenience, but this place is excellent given what you would normally expect from a spot that's really just a place to crash while sightseeing...
