The Omni Royal is a beautiful, stately hotel in the heart of the French Quarter. The public areas are simply gorgeous. The staff was amazing, very friendly, and welcoming. They went out of their way to take care of guests and make them feel special.

The lighting in our room was a problem. There were three lamps plus’s and overhead light by the entry that operated on a switch. Only one lamp had an on off switch which did not work well, a second lamp required one to unscrew the light bulb to turn it off, and the third lamp did not seem to have way to turn it on at all. We carefully searched the walls, cords and floors to ascertain that we were not missing something. We were not. One extension cord powered lamps on both sides of the bed plus the clock. We chalked it up to staying in a historic property.

We wanted to be close to the center, and the hotel is ideally located, just a few steps from Bourbon Street, while remaining quiet enough. The rooftop pool is exceptional, in a warm and friendly atmosphere, with a bar and music. The staff is also very attentive and really contributes to making the stay enjoyable. A very nice experience that we recommend without hesitation! An exceptional jazz evening with a live band!!

Unfortunately, the rooms completely contrast with the common areas of the hotel, which are much more pleasant. They are very old-fashioned and cleanliness is sometimes lacking. Another negative point: the parking, charged at $50 per day, which seems quite excessive for hotel guests.

We stayed there many times. It’s was our favorite hotel in New Orleans based on location and location the building.

The new renovations absolutely missed the mark. The rib room should have been put out to pasture. They really missed the mark by not coming up with a new restaurant concept. Still dark, dank and empty. And the new upstairs lobby bar and decor are completely bland and uninspired. No character. Nothing screams New Orleans. Looks like a corporate designer from Dallas did it.
