Building state and staircase in bad shape, it doesn't make it inviting. Smell from fish market at end of day really strong. Mini fridge not functioning.

Certainly the price is a plus point for this property, unfortunately we booked without reading the other reviews and consequently we had to adapt, letting ourselves be enticed by the low cost.

Certainly the price is a plus point for this property, unfortunately we booked without reading the other reviews and consequently we had to adapt, letting ourselves be enticed by the low cost.

It is located in a square where there is a market every morning, consequently it is full of unpleasant smells, food leftovers that remain on the ground and animals that feed on them. The internal staircase to access the structure is dark and also full of nauseating smells, moreover at the time of check-in there is no one inside and we had difficulty contacting the host because no one answered (both at the intercom and especially on the phone). Fortunately, Booking's assistance is effective and they contacted us. Sheets and furniture very minimal and of low quality.

I liked finding the room tidied up on the second day but I would have liked to know beforehand that someone would enter to tidy up! They allowed me to leave the luggage there in the afternoon out of necessity but obviously without assistance I always did everything with self check-in.

I didn't like that the host doesn't respond on booking and was forcing me to book outside of booking just because I asked to postpone the check-out and he would only provide assistance that way... in fact, I had to do self check-in with the risk that if I couldn't do it, he would leave me outside because I didn't book outside of booking, the bathroom has a bad smell and unfortunately despite being in the center of Catania I strongly advise against this place for those who have a strong sensitivity to smells because leaving the house in the morning and afternoon you will find yourself immersed in the smell of fish from the market and its waste. Overall, I found it okay because I don't have too many demands and for a short stay it is bearable.
