No staff after 5 pm. On a tour and ran after 5. Since I didn't notify them, I did not get a late check-in package. I arrived at 5:15 and was not able to stay, but they have a non-refundable policy. No staff after 5 pm. You're on your own. Kept my money but no service. All late arrivals should be accommodated.

The hotel grounds were nice with gathering places for friends. We were a group of 12. The rooms left a lot to be desired. While they look bright and cheerful, they are in bad need of renovation. Tile grout in the bathroom dark and dirty, a loose piece was propped up to hide an open place behind the toilet. The AC was tiny and facing a little hallway by the bathroom, hard to figure out settings. The ceiling fan remote was out, and the only way to turn on, we requested a new battery the next morning and were told they would bring up in a little while, next day called again and said they would have to order it. The TV was wacko, it disconnected from the internet every 10-15 min, the staff also knew about this. Room 42. Breakfast ok, lady during the week at the bar was super nice and helpful, weekend staff had three members just sitting around talking and would barely acknowledge guests. The hotel is in a very good location, with parking a couple of blocks away in a lot for $15 a night. Not worth the $500 per night stay...

Upon arrival, we were left a map taped to the office door as to how to find our room, which was very confusing. Much to our disappointment, we were on the second level which meant carrying luggage up two flights of unstable stairs. The room was adequate, but nothing too special. Dragging my suitcase down these stairs upon departure, I fell! I have a black eye, bruised and swollen lips, and a concussion. Not to mention my knees are bruised, aching, and swollen. If you are a senior citizen, insist on a first-floor room. Perhaps management should discuss this with guests prior to booking. Better yet, make this clear on their website. Let it be known, I am a senior in good health and physically fit. The pool was not heated and not clean to my liking. The overall atmosphere was chill. The location is great, but parking is a nightmare. If you’re a breakfast person, don’t expect anything special. I would stay at this location again, but absolutely be more aware of the room location, room size, and overall comfort.

Really chic vibe, old Key West style. It's really a backyard oasis with a nice pool and nice areas to sit with plenty of greenery around. The breakfast was awesome. Everything you think of they had, including fruit, waffles, eggs, sausage, it was terrific and it is complementary. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. If you're looking for a sterile environment, where everything is modern and new, this isn't it. If you're looking for a homie laid-back vibe with a very friendly staff, then this is the place.

What a lovely place to stay. The room was very large with its own porch. Breakfast had a great choice of food and bottomless coffee, all delicious. The pool area was very large and easy to find places to sit. The upper sundeck always had plenty of beds available. The location is brilliant, just around the corner from Duval Street. The staff are so helpful and happy. We would stay there again.

We recently stayed at Heron House in Key West for the fifth consecutive year during the week of Valentine’s Day. Unfortunately, this year’s experience was very disappointing. Despite the hotel’s great location and overall appearance, several issues significantly impacted our stay. The room could have been much cleaner. There was very little hot water, and the shower handles were not in good working order. Additionally, the shower curtain rod was installed too far into the tub, causing the plastic shower curtain to cling to you while showering, which felt quite unsanitary. However, the worst issue was that there was no top sheet on the bed—only a fitted sheet and a comforter. We did not realize this until we were getting ready for bed and assumed it was an oversight by housekeeping since we have always had a top sheet during our previous stays. When we tried to contact the front desk, no one was available either in person or by phone. As a result, we had to take an Uber to a local Ross to buy a set of sheets and then return to the hotel. The next morning, we approached the desk manager to report the missing top sheet. To our surprise, he told us that the hotel no longer provides top sheets because the new owner does not believe in them, describing it as a “European thing.” We expressed that as customers, we preferred having a top sheet. The manager said many people requested top sheets, but the owner became so tired of these requests that she gathered all the top sheets and threw them away. We asked to speak to the owner or another manager, but both requests were denied. To make the situation even more irritating, while returning to our room from breakfast, we noticed several rooms with their doors open, showing unmade beds that clearly had top sheets. We spoke with our neighbor sitting outside, who confirmed that although their room initially did not have a top sheet, his wife requested one and the hotel provided it. This inconsistency and the lack of transparency were very frustrating. We also expressed to the desk manager that we would not be returning, and he simply shrugged as if he didn’t care. There was no offer to address or make right the situation, which was very disappointing. Having stayed here many times before, this experience was far below the standard we expected. We hope management reconsiders their approach to guest comfort and customer service to improve the experience for future visitors.

Adorable place. Very cozy, and everyone made us feel welcome. Jay, the owner, is a true delight. Our room and accommodations were perfect. Mary the cat is an added bonus as we love pets! 90-second walk to Duval Street. A must-stay!

Nice, quiet location. We stayed in a king suite off of the pool area, which was very convenient when sitting at the pool. The room and bathroom were large. Nice marble tile floors. The mattress was comfortable, however the sheets, bedspread, and flat pillows are old, thin, faded, and need to be replaced. The pool area was nice, with areas of sun and shade. The breakfast buffet was limited but sufficient and was set up in a small and unattractive room. Coffee was delicious but not available until 7:30 am.
