Several guests noted maintenance and cleanliness issues (heavily limescaled fittings, generally run-down appearance and need for refurbishment), indicating below-standard cleanliness/maintenance.
Service is repeatedly described as incredibly lovely, helpful and exceptionally friendly, though there are isolated negative experiences at check-out where staff ignored guests.
Location is praised (easy access to downtown and the beach; one guest explicitly cites the location as a pro).
Mixed room experience: very comfortable beds and private balconies noted, but problems include noise above restaurant/bar, a non-working Jacuzzi, faulty bedside lamp, odd shower design that splashes water, and limited toiletries.
Pool(s) are a strong positive and repeatedly praised, contributing to a good amenities score, though some guests reported only one pool had water and the Jacuzzi was broken; garden tours and daytime traffic through pool areas were also noted.
At least one guest explicitly stated price/quality does not match; given mixed service and maintenance issues this category is rated below target.
Food and beverage experiences are mixed: some guests enjoyed breakfast, others called it 'miserabel' or reported late opening, lack of coffee/cream and poor service timing.
Overall stays are described as delightful by several guests (colonial charm, friendly staff, great pool), balanced by notable negatives (maintenance, breakfast issues, noise), resulting in a generally positive overall impression.
Incredibly lovely and helpful staff. One of the comfiest beds I’ve ever slept in.

Breakfast miserable, bathroom equipment (no shelves, no hooks, fittings very calcified), all-day tourist tours through the garden and also at the pool, at check-out we were practically completely ignored and not asked how we found the stay (the phone was more important), price/performance is not right here

My room was above the restaurant, the bar and the cigar room with music every night until after 11 pm… the breakfast was advertised from 7:30 am… I tried to get breakfast on the second day but they did not open till 8 pm… when I arrived there was no tea or coffee in the room… and the Jacuzzi bath did not work… I booked and paid for three days and I informed the hotel I will be leaving after two days… I had to rebook my flight… They said that because it was a third-party booking I would have to contact Booking.com and request a credit. If you are drinker of good wine and a smoker of fine cigars and enjoy excessive eating then this is your place… providing you do not stay there…It seems like a run down vestige of the British empire that is desperately in need of Restoration and refurbishment. Only one of the swimming pools had water in it….
Enjoyed our breakfast very much. Enjoyed the privacy of our Presidente room and balcony! Appreciated the access to downtown and the beach.

The design of the shower was odd since the opening on the end allowed water to splash out to the toilet area. One of the bedside reading lamps would not work. Got a light bulb from the desk but lamp still did not work. There was only 1 bar of soap to share with the shower and sink. No cream for the coffee.
