I couldn’t watch the ABC on the tv - the National Broadcaster in Australia that I pay my taxes to support and it wasn’t available, that’s just unheard of!!! The only thing on the TV was foxtell only fools watch that rubbish. I was on a single bed that when I tried to get out of it, it would fall over and I would end up on the floor. I have bruised knees from it. No real bin in the room. Power points in the wrong places. I had to boil the kettle of water over my kids bed holding it on a ledge because no power point was close enough to a ledge for the kettle. That’s so dodgy.

It was walking distance from Afterpay Stadium. It was 20-25 minutes from Sydney airport. We weren't going to spend a lot of time in the hotel, as I had booked a special VIP concert event at Afterpay stadium for my daughter's birthday. We were flying from interstate and only needed a basic hotel to get ready for the concert between arriving and attending the event, with a comfortable bed/climate control to sleep. We had to fly out early the next day, leaving at 7:00 am. In the description, this hotel provided that.

I booked this accommodation in April, and chose this hotel to attend a concert in August at Afterpay stadium and allowed a few hours after flying in to NSW from SA. On arrival at check-in time, 3pm, we were told our room wasn't ready. Our room took 1.5 hours to become ready! I needed to reapproach the check-in desk several times to achieve support/feedback. The time I had allocated to change/charge phone/rest before we attended our concert was absorbed standing/waiting at the check-in desk. We were allocated a room at 4:25pm, we needed to leave for the expensive VIP experience I had booked at 4:50pm. If we did not attend the event at 5:00pm, our VIP experience would be void. This gave us 25 minutes to do everything we needed to prepare for our scheduled evening. Furthermore, the room appeared to have lipstick smeared across the bathroom floor, and the air conditioning unit was malfunctioning - it kept switching off. Throughout the whole experience, I felt unheard and could not understand why our room was taking so long to clean??? We were the only people waiting in the reception area. On an average day, waiting 1.5 hours past the official check-in time is unacceptable. On this occasion, given we had a limited window of time, it ruined our experience. We still do not understand why this happened, why we could not be allocated an alternative room, or why we needed to wait 1.5 hours to receive an answer/support. By email the next day, the hotel offered to refund $100 of the $240 we paid for the room - but that is little comfort given the impact of the experience. It was a special birthday trip for my daughter.
