I’m honestly not sure how this hotel has a rating of 8.4 on Booking.com. I paid around $1,700 for four nights in a standard double room, and unfortunately, I don’t feel the hotel offered good value for the price. The location is definitely the biggest positive — it is very central and convenient for exploring New York. The staff were also friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. However, the hotel itself feels very outdated, particularly the bathroom. There was a shower over the bath, but no handheld shower head, which made it rather inconvenient to use. The room itself was just okay and certainly didn’t feel like what I would expect for the price we paid. Breakfast is included, which is a nice bonus, but unfortunately, the choice and variety were quite poor. Even the waffle maker and toaster looked very old and dated. Overall, the location and friendly staff were the main positives, but the hotel would benefit from a significant update and improvement in its facilities and breakfast offering. I would personally look at other options for my next stay in New York

The breakfast is very poor. The common areas should be renovated as the carpets are worn out as well as the armchairs in the dining room
The location is excellent, very close to the metro stop. The room is nice and the size is more than adequate. We appreciated the availability of water and coffee throughout the day

The room faced the inner room and was rather noisy. The breakfast was good, however, the spaces were not sufficient. In fact, the buffet was often crowded

I recently stayed at the Hampton Inn near the Empire State Building in New York City and was disappointed by the condition of the seating in the dining area. As shown in the photo, the bench upholstery was badly cracked, worn, and stained, creating an unclean and neglected appearance. Considering the rates charged by the hotel, which exceeded $1,000 for a three-night stay booked in advance, I expected much better upkeep of common areas. The dining hall is one of the first places guests see each morning, and its condition reflects on the hotel's standards. New York City welcomes visitors from around the world, and hotels play an important role in shaping their impression of the city and the country. It is unfortunate to see such obvious maintenance issues being overlooked by management. I hope the hotel addresses these concerns promptly to provide guests with the quality experience they deserve
