Mixed cleanliness: several guests praised general cleanliness and well-kept rooms, but there is at least one report of mold inside a closet and other occasional issues, bringing this slightly below the overall level.
Generally strong, with multiple mentions of very helpful and friendly staff at reception and attentive breakfast/restaurant staff; a few guests reported unfriendly reception staff or transfer not handled, but positive service comments are dominant.
Very favorable location remarks across reviews: central, about a 10-minute walk to the center/marina, safe streets and easy access to downtown and attractions; only occasional notes about proximity to airport noise.
Rooms are frequently described as spacious, comfortable (good beds), with pleasant balconies/views and well-furnished; a few atypical room-specific complaints exist but overall room quality is excellent.
Strong amenities cited (outdoor and indoor pools, Japanese garden, nice bar), though guests noted a few drawbacks: gym underwhelming, pool cap requirement for indoor pool, slow elevators and parking fees.
Value is a relative weakness: multiple guests commented that the price felt high (especially given airport noise proximity and some service lapses), so perceived value is below the overall mark.
Breakfast receives frequent praise as varied and good; however, some guests reported poor restaurant service (cold dishes, missing dessert ingredients) and issues serving guests with dietary needs, producing a mixed but generally positive score.
Overall sentiment is very positive: many guests report delightful stays, recommend the property and praise the grounds, pools and atmosphere, despite some isolated service/food/value issues.

The property is pretty, this is why I returned. I just had a terrible experience this round.

What a sad end to a milestone trip. I am writing this review to share our actual experience as returning guests celebrating a major 50th birthday milestone in the Azores. Severe, unprecedented fog and successive flight cancellations delayed our arrival to the property. I contacted the hotel immediately upon being delayed by the airline, asking to adjust our itinerary dates. Management refused any schedule adjustment, holding us to the original non-refundable booking terms for the entire duration. Although our reservation began on May 31st, flight disruptions prevented us from physically checking in until June 3rd. We completed our stay and checked out just 13 hours later to catch our scheduled transfer to Pico. In total, we paid $4,000 for a 13-hour actual stay at the hotel. Upon returning home, I asked management to reconsider charging full price for the missed nights given these extraordinary circumstances. Management acknowledged in writing that the travel disruptions were completely beyond our control and expressed sympathy. However, they hid behind third-party rate conditions to justify keeping 100% of the $4,000 payment without offering any partial refund or credit toward a future visit. A business’s commitment to service is tested when things go wrong. Choosing rigid policy over basic goodwill for returning guests facing a travel emergency speaks volumes. We will not be returning.
Breakfast was great, as was the location.

The mattress was a little hard.
Hotel was really nice and the daily breakfast was perfect to start the day. We rented a car to get around the island but really enjoyed that the hotel was walking distance to downtown.

Good location, 10 minutes walk from the center. Fairly new hotel, large room, comfortable bathroom. Breakfasts are more or less, you expect more from such a hotel. Private parking.

Close to the airport, planes are very loud, impossible to sleep with the window open.
