I wish I could have stayed longer! This hotel was a superb experience in itself. The beautiful historic house set in a lush green garden on a hill is absolutely full of charm. After a hot day of walking and sightseeing in Funchal, opening the front gate and walking up the cobblestone path to the house felt like stepping into another world. The balcony view over Funchal Bay was just amazing. We spent hours sipping Madeira, totally absorbed in the dusk. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was spacious and spotless, and breakfast in the garden made us feel like King and Queen (and young Prince)!

Very pleasant hotel on the heights of Funchal with a pretty garden overlooking the city and the sea. Comfortable and spacious room, nicely arranged. The lady serving breakfast is charming and very helpful. About ten minutes from the city center.

The hotel is very close to the center (we did everything on foot). The hotel breakfast was the best we had in Madeira, it is quite generous and you have many options if you stay several days (we stayed 4 nights and never ate the same thing).
