I had booked through Booking an apartment with 3 bedrooms for one night. Before my arrival, the property contacted me asking to cancel the reservation and book directly with them, explaining that the price on Booking had been mistakenly entered and was too low. Upon my arrival, they again tried to convince me to cancel, offering me a one-bedroom apartment and asking me to pay the difference. I refused because I did not think it was right to pay for their mistake. The receptionist then spoke on the phone with the manager in a language other than Italian, without me being able to understand the conversation and without explaining that the agreed solution would be a studio apartment. I only found out upon entering the accommodation. When I returned to the reception to ask for explanations, the manager kept repeating that the price was too low, while the receptionist claimed that I had said that the size of the accommodation did not matter to me. I never said this: I had simply said that I had booked what was available on Booking. Only after my explicit request for compensation for the failure to provide the booked service, I was offered a refund for parking, which I accepted to avoid prolonging the situation further. More than the change of accommodation, I found the way the whole situation was handled unacceptable: lack of transparency, attempts to shift the consequences of their mistake onto me, and an unprofessional attitude, with glances between the manager and the receptionist while I was simply seeking explanations. Very negative experience. I do not recommend this property.
