This room was booked for my son. He became violently ill during the night he stayed over, and I sped to his assistance to fetch him to take to a doctor. We asked reception for another 2 hours so we, as parents, could arrive and take him away. We were more than willing to pay a pro rata rate but were charged the full amount for another night's stay. Two years ago, I also dealt with this hotel's lack of ubuntu or mensh or humanity, whatever you call human decency: a terrible storm hit Cape Town, and the pass over Franschhoek was closed. I called the hotel to ask if I could postpone my booking by two days, until the road reopened. They denied my request, and I had to pay full price again. Both times, the staff were unwilling to help; it was out of season, and they wouldn't have incurred any financial loss. The greediness and lack of compassion leave a bitter taste.

City lodge needs to provide us with mini fridges atleast. It's very inconvenient without a fridge.
