- bathroom was poorly cleaned. There was a lot of hair from previous guests. Literally A LOT. Close to disgusting - we arrived on Saturday morning after a long night flight that had been already cancelled once. Then we hoped to take a good shower: on top of dealing with the poor cleaning, we had to deal with their boiler that was down, so we showered in cold water. Nothing was ever mentioned to us during checkin and the staff was already aware. At checkout we mentioned that frustration and we were given 2000 Points in their IHG program, but honestly that does not feel like compensation to us, as we are not loyal IHG customers and these points will eventually be lost - breakfast was literally only complimentary. Only one VERY SLOW coffee machine was up, the other was down. The line to get coffee in the morning was frustrating. Breakfast was offered only until 9am and close to that time there weren’t even seats available. Everything served in disposable materials and with limited options. Staff was not nice and breakfast felt like a “favor” the hotel was doing, not something that was paid by the guest. It was clear to us that the hotel does not have the capacity to offer breakfast for the amount of guests they had - I deliberately chose this hotel, paying more than other options available at Booking because the hotel was labeled as a 4-stars hotel, but it felt more like a cheap option instead. I don’t feel my money was well spent, mainly taking into account that during the same trip we stayed at a 3-stars hotel in Orlando that exceeded our expectations and the offerings this Holiday Inn Express hotel delivered for a MUCH LOWER price. So in short, I don’t feel the cost/benefit ratio was worth it, even thought there were good aspects, such as comfort and the gym; - after my stay was ended, I called the hotel to question the charges made to my credit card.
