The worst accommodation experience I’ve had in a long time! First of all, the furniture and facilities are very old. Being old may be acceptable, but being dirty is absolutely not. There were hairs in the bathroom and on the walls that clearly did not belong to us, and the room was filthy. They even handed over the room without wiping the surfaces of the tables. There was renovation work going on in the hotel, and even the dirt and mess from the renovation were left around. The elevator had become dirty because of the renovation, and they did not clean it for three days. The beds are extremely uncomfortable. There is no actual king-size bed. What they call a double bed is simply two single beds pushed together, so whenever you move toward the middle of the bed, you fall into the gap between them. They had also placed an extra pillow in the room without a pillowcase. At night, I asked for a pillowcase and was told, “We can’t give you one now.” The curtains were also dirty. There was very little variety at breakfast, and the food was not tasty. They even put mayonnaise and ketchup out as if they were part of the breakfast variety. If you don’t want to throw your money away, do not stay here. I deeply regret choosing this hotel. They also say that the location is very good, but there are so many alternative places in much better locations. There is genuinely no proper management at this hotel, which is a shame. And to top it all off, at check-out they asked us, “Could you please give us a good rating on Booking.com?” Why?

Stayed here for 5 nights at the end of July/start of August. Hotel is in an excellent location, within walking distance of the old town, promenade and the pedestrianised area. Plenty of bars and restaurants in these areas too. We did not use a taxi at all! Across the street is a small shop for snacks and drinks and there is a little park too which is nice for a sit. The area is quiet and safe. We booked a deluxe room which was gorgeous! Large space, big bed plus a sofa too. Small balcony but no seating on it. Fridge in room and water was supplied daily. Kettle too. Shower room with a rain shower with good flow of hot water. Reception staff were courteous and helpful. Check in in the early hours was efficient (knowing we would arrive at between 3 and 4am we booked the room from the day before) and when we left they helped book a taxi to the airport. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

Breakfast was hit and miss but I suspect typical of the region. White bread, boiled eggs, yoghurt. Croissants some days. If you like a particular kind of breakfast there are loads of cafes/bakeries nearby. We booked an airport transfer with the hotel that did not come; but they did not charge us for it so not a huge deal.

We liked everything in this hotel!! From check-in and complimentary refreshing tonics, to check-out and a gift in the form of postcards of the hotel and Beijing attractions. The staff is very friendly with knowledge of the English language.

If possible, provide a cooling system on the terrace.
