Clearly on booking I booked a standard double bed room. I also called the hotel directly to confirm the booking. But when I arrived, the receptionist said the room I booked was a single bed without a window. If I wanted a standard double bed room, I had to pay an additional 300,000 VND. I disagreed and when I took out my phone to book elsewhere, the receptionist said they would give me a room with a double bed but the windows opened to two hot air conditioning units. This is clearly dishonesty to extort money from the receptionist when they saw me with my Western husband. This dishonesty affects the credibility of the hotel in particular and the tourism industry in Vietnam in general.
