The bathroom is outdated and poorly designed, with water leaks. The carpet feels sticky.
Check-in was chaotic and poorly managed, with long waits and confusion.
While the view of Sydney Harbour is noted, it does not justify the overall experience.
Rooms and bathrooms are outdated, with worn finishes and fixtures.
Standard quality for this hotel tier.
Overall, the experience does not reflect the star rating or luxury pricing.
The welcome plate of fruit was underwhelming and odd.
Not recommended, with a desire to choose another hotel if the stay were longer.

Its location to the Rocks and Circular Quay. Close to all public transport. Clean, spacious and most of all friendly staff who were very professional

Paying for early check in
Stayed in Shangri-La Sydney many times over the years and enjoyed every stay. Room is large, quiet and nice view. Staff is attentive and helpful. Pool, 24 hours gym and restaurants are in top standards.

Allocated rooms on 5th floor, overlooking the City, very noisy. Asked to be moved but hotel was fully booked, apparently!
The view from our room was excellent

The building is shabby. You are literally paying for the view. The staff speak poor English and the housekeeping was not up to standard. There are way better hotels in Sydney for half the price. Don’t waste your money
Unhygienic room and unprofessional treatment I stayed at Shangri-La Sydney in October 2026, and my experience was very disappointing. As soon as I checked in, I found someone else's used underwear in the drawer of my room. This was shocking and completely unacceptable for a hotel of this standard. It made me question how thoroughly the rooms are cleaned. When I raised the issue, instead of a sincere apology, I was shouted at and treated rudely by the duty manager. I was simply asking for a clean room, and I did not expect to be spoken to that way. On top of that, I was kept waiting for several hours. My room was not changed until after 6pm, and much of my day in Sydney was wasted dealing with this. For a luxury hotel, both the cleanliness and the way the problem was handled fell far below expectations.
