The host at the desk was friendly, and understood why I was to disgusted to stay there

Bedbugs. A disgusting odor in the room. The hallways were filthy. Stains in the bed and in the chair. Toilet seat very wobbly. Water from the bathroom sink came out grey when I ran it
Subway (red line) is very close and in 20 minutes I was in the city. The bed was comfortable and there were the basics items to have a shower. The room has an open wardrobe with hangers for shirts.

In the hallways you could find papers and food on the floor. The different receptionists were quite passive, I felt a lack of energy and positive welcoming. Shower floor looked clean but I'm not sure if it was. Tv, you couldn't keep watching the same movie once you switch off tv.
Fabulous location.

Cheap hotel in nice location. The hotel smells like a flooded basement. No elevators, no modern updates. Old, Cheap air conditioners that need maintenance and don't work properly. No curtains, only blinds that shine in the sun when I should have that as an option. It wasn't that clean and looked dirty throughout hotel lobby and hallways
Chinatown Hotel was very cheap and located close to Soldiers Field. I booked it so I could go to MNF game and not have to drive back to the 'burbs late after having a few beers.

I got very anxious when I read online reviews about Chinatown Hotel having an infestation of bed bugs in the past. I tried to book another hotel at the last minute and the prices were all > $250 for one night. I carefully inspected my room and could find no evidence of bedbugs. When I arrived, my room did not have a roll of toilet paper. The room did not have a refrigerator. The room was very hot with one portable space heater. The television did not work.
The location was great. It was a food paradise for chinese cuisine. Shopping centers were awesome. Stay was very cheap. You get what you pay for. Rooms were basic. But clean. Carpets were very old and stained and dirty. But other than thqt, beds were ok, we had hot water , bathroom was clean. No smell in my room ( Room 101) as mentioned in several comments in review. Very close (2 miles) to the magnificent miles and navy pier. Yhey had sharable fridge, water filter in the common kitchen. And the staffs are helpful. Easy checkin and checkout. Wifi was great. And old tv was there in each toom in the 2B 1 B apartment and was functional.

Can renovate it. Specially the stained caroets. And change the ancient blankets. Front desk staff could more pro actively engage with customers. Although rooms were allright, and did not smell, lobby had a distinct smell mixed with clorex. The fact that they dont have elevators may be an issue with elderly people.
They had various time zone clocks in reception. Also they did not inflate their prices just because they could due to the Chicago marathon.

There was no toilet paper in the room.
