ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE - STAY AWAY FOR YOUR SAFETY! I am writing this to warn anyone considering staying here: do NOT be fooled by the positive reviews or the "exotic" vibe. This place was a total scam and, frankly, dangerous.The location is terrifying. There is a shelter directly across the street, which means there are constantly large groups of homeless individuals and drug users right outside the front door. There is zero security—no guard and no concierge—to monitor who enters or exits. While it’s technically a 20-minute walk to the tourist heart of Hollywood, the route is sketchy and felt extremely unsafe. The interior might look "exotic," but the rooms were dirty and felt more like a poorly maintained campsite than a hostel. Many of the guests were very suspicious, and the police were constantly showing up due to fights and disturbances at the reception.The breaking point was returning one evening around 8:00 PM to find they had changed the door code without any notification. Since there was no staff at the door, we were stranded outside in what felt like the "Skid Row" of Hollywood, terrified and shouting for someone inside the courtyard party to hear us.As soon as we got in, we packed our bags and fled to another hotel. We had 5 more prepaid nights at Banana Bungalow, but we knew their no refund policy didn't even care about a refund —we just had to get out of there. The staff was polite and the breakfast was decent, but that doesn't matter when you fear for your physical safety. This place is NOT what they portray it to be. Please, stay somewhere else.

Lo único que no me gustó es la cantidad de homeless en la zona.

I had an amazing stay at this hostel! The karaoke parties were a real highlight and such a fun way to spend the evenings, meet new people, and create unforgettable memories. I also loved how the hostel actively promoted social events and made an effort to bring everyone together, creating such a welcoming, friendly, and lively atmosphere. There was always something to look forward to, which made it so easy to connect with other travelers. The free breakfast was another great bonus and a perfect way to start each day. Overall, this hostel has everything you could want: great vibes, fun activities, and plenty of opportunities to make new friends. I would absolutely recommend it and would happily stay here again!
