One of the things that disappointed us was seeing small cockroaches roaming around when we arrived. Since we came from the Visayas, we checked in very late, almost midnight. Our flight back was scheduled for around 8 PM 2days after, so we asked the host if we could extend our checkout by just one or two hours. We were hoping she would consider our request, given how late we had checked in. The host said it might be possible, but there would be an additional fee because we would be using electricity. Honestly, we felt this was unfair, considering that we had checked in so late in the first place. I asked again if she could be a little more considerate of our situation, but she explained that another guest would be checking in right after our checkout. We understood that there might be scheduling constraints, but we couldn't help feeling that this was simply a way of declining our request without saying so directly. In my opinion, if we had stayed at a hotel, a one or two-hour late checkout might have been accommodated, depending on availability and hotel policy, sometimes without an additional charge. We were not asking for much, just a little consideration given our circumstances.
