A slightly worse access to the hotel, given its high location. Sledging available at the hotel (local attraction) - difficult ascent. But it was not a reason for us to check out of the hotel for the second time.

It was all good for us! The continental breakfast is super good! The air is incredible. You literally sleep in the Gardens and it's beautiful. The place is a real museum it almost makes you whisper when you are inside.

The coffee at breakfast is instant. No espresso. You can have an espresso at the kiosk bar outside, but it opens at 10 am. The location is super nice but not accessible by foot. It's only accessible by car or by the chair lift to Funchal, which is kind of expensive. There is also a bus stop in the neighborhood. The tiles in the bathroom are super vintage but clean.

A hotel of that category cannot only offer long coffee. It should have at least one espresso option, even if it's from a machine.

We had a room near the elevator, which makes quite a bit of noise. The hotel is also listed as having air conditioning, but they are currently under renovation, not all rooms have air conditioning.
Nice place, close to the center, good breakfasts, great rooms, balcony with a nice view. Parking, mini gym, restaurant/bar.

Unfortunately, the pool had very cold water, around 20 degrees, and the jacuzzi was not working 🥲. A bit of an extreme drive by car, but great that there is parking.
