Tamarind Tree is an AMAZING hotel in Nairobi. The property is secure, safe, and welcoming. We stayed here for a total of 7 nights throughout July for our wheelchair accessible 12 day safari with a group of 16 travelers. Our first stay was 5 nights, then 2 nights, and each time was fantastic! I am an ambulatory wheelchair user and found the property very easy to get around. Most places had tiled floors and there is a ramp in the entrance. The hallway to our room required a key card to open, which could be difficult to open the door on your own, but felt very safe. Our room was very spacious with incredibly comfortable mattress that was firm and supportive without being hard. There was a TV and large window but it was still quiet. The bathroom is large with a walk in shower and separate toilet with a frosted glass door. This was fine for us but for two friends sharing a room may be a little uncomfortable. There was a kettle, fridge, water and selection of tea and coffee. There is a fantastic breakfast buffet with every option you could ask for - egg station, pancakes, sausage, local food, selection of yoghurt, fruit, cereal, breads, pastries, juices and more. There is plenty of seating both inside and outside on the terrace overlooking the pool. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner here and each time the food was delicious. There is a live band area near the bar with outdoor seating as well, where we hung out. The pool was a great temperature for us and there were plenty of loungers, umbrellas and tables surrounding it. We also got a massage and it was very a very relaxing experience. I would recommend the spa! What stands out for me was the EXCEPTIONAL STAFF! Honestly, the staff at Tamarind Tree were the best - thoughtful, helpful, cheerful, polite and friendly. Jacqueline, Joan, Emmanuel, Evelyn, Sylvia, Gloria, Irene (manager) and more were absolutely incredible and were always smiling! We loved our stay, hope to be back and highly recommend this hotel!

A bit of outside noise reached the second floor. Smoking room near the bar was unpleasant.
Super friendly staff throughout our stay. The breakfast was extensive and really good. They were also flexible in accommodating our family, adding an extra bed to the room without any hassle. A nice bonus: you can walk through the garden straight to the famous Carnivore restaurant — one of my personal favorites. A great base for a stay in the area.
