the apartment is big with a very large baloney overlooking the city. having a washing machine was a huge bonus. the location of the place is perfect for exploring Funchal. super central and with a large supermarket at the end of the street. the host was very responsive and the remote check in process was very convenient.

the bathroom is a bit small. parking is very hard in the area, and so we ended up paying for parking more than expected... we did not consider that the nearest parking lot gets locked between 23:00 to 07:00, and so if you are planning to exit early to watch the sunrise, you might find yourself locked in like we did... (but that's our fault and not the hotels of course)

SO LOUD! I really appreciated the location, as everything was within easy reach. However, because the apartment is situated directly on a busy street, it was extremely noisy early in the morning, making it impossible to sleep with the window open. There was constant honking, the sound of the supermarkets’ air-conditioning systems, and even the noise of products being scanned by cashiers.

Before making the reservation on Booking.com, I called the apartment to ask about the possibility of booking. Shortly afterwards, the apartment was removed from Booking.com and then listed again at a price approximately €50 higher. Another major disadvantage was that we were not given actual keys to the apartment, but only a code. The same code was used for the main entrance, the shared terrace accessible to all residents, and our private apartment. We tried to change the code to a personal one and contacted the owner about it, but it was never changed. Unfortunately,I came back to Funchal after couple of days, and even a week later, the EXACT same code I was given still works for the main entrance. I think you can draw your own conclusions regarding the level of security this provides. I would also like to point out that this was already our fourth stay at Storytellers, which makes it particularly disappointing that our needs and concerns were not properly taken care of this time. Plus the sofa was not the same as the pictures - it was different and stained.
