When we arrived during the heatwave we were informed upon arrival that there was no air conditioning due to building works. although I understand they were undergoing refurbishment we were not informed of this prior to arrival. We were told we could book somewhere else, but as it was late in the evening this was not a option. We should of been informed before we arrived there was a refurbishment underway. In my room only 1 of the lights worked and so I was unable to work into the evening as I couldn't see what I was doing.
The property was under construction and was an absolute disgrace , it wasn’t safe , would and construction materials left out along landings near stairs, construction noise on the monday , you should t be sending people to this hotel while under construction it’s not safe and is a mess , i want a refund for my stay , normally when i book on booking .com i haven’t had a problem but this was the worst hotel i’ve ever stayed in, lift didn’t feel safe ,no safety railings near stairs these had been removed in places or left half up flapping about

They had contractors hammering and drilling at 7am!!! As international travelers that just arrived that was dreadful. We dragged our exhausted asses out of there by 9.30am when we couldn't handle any more to find somewhere else to rest. Honestly, I would like a refund. We were totally ruined for the limited time we had in Belgium.

Facilities weren't great. Plug socket loose on wall. Hotel is undergoing renovations. Expect banging between 8-5. You can hear the room above and next door clearly. Room is very dated. Considering you can pay half the price for another hotel with much better facilities. Poor show really! Btw pics aren't exactly what you get.

The hotel was a building site, so presumably this will change at some point. The noise started early in the morning. Someone wandered into my room without warning. The lift got stuck, briefly, thank goodness. But not something I would repeat.
I cannot rate this hotel as they moved my booking to another hotel in Brussels due to last minute renovations. New hotel The Scott was nice clean and staff friendly.

Very good location, only a few minutes’ walk from the Grand Place, with a street full of bars, restaurants and shops right outside. We were also able to leave our bags in the luggage room, which was very convenient. The staff were incredibly nice. It was my mum’s birthday during our stay, and they kindly upgraded our room and left us a bottle of champagne, which was such a lovely surprise! The room had a big Smart TV, and the beds were very comfortable.

The main downside was the noise coming from the bars on the street, which continued throughout the night and even in the very early morning. The windows are not soundproof, so it was quite difficult to sleep in the room we initially had. We actually had to ask to change rooms after the first night. Luckily, we were given a room on a higher floor, and the difference was huge — it was much quieter and made our stay much more comfortable. As we noticed that other guests had mentioned the same issue in their reviews, perhaps the hotel could consider improving the soundproofing or addressing the noise issue with the nearby bars.
