Breakfast was good. Salad vegetables should be make dry not still very wet. Lady serving noodles should be in better mood. Dim Sum tray should be make more accessible. Otherwise is a good spread.

This review will probably not come as a surprise to Somerset Chengdu. I’m pretty sure they’re expecting it. This was our second stay at this hotel. The first time was okay-ish. This time was a complete disaster. My son and I arrived in the late evening after a long day of traveling to what I consider the best city in the world. We checked in, walked into our room, and immediately noticed that the bathroom door was broken and wouldn’t close. Not exactly ideal, especially when you’re traveling with a teenager. I went downstairs to let the front desk know. They said someone would come take a look. About 10 minutes later, a maintenance worker showed up, confirmed the door was broken, and told us we’d be moved to another room. We were told to wait. So we waited. And waited. And waited. We sat there with all of our luggage unpacked until almost midnight, and nobody ever came. I finally went back downstairs. This time they told me they could move us, but it was to a better room, so once the bathroom door was fixed we’d have to move all of our stuff back to the original room. Seriously? I told them absolutely not. I’m not unpacking, packing everything back up, moving rooms, then doing it all over again because the hotel handed us a room with a broken bathroom door. I said we were perfectly willing to stay in the room if they fixed the door first thing the next morning. They assured me they would. Spoiler: they didn’t. Using the bathroom and shower became a ridiculous exercise in geometry. Because of the mirrors and the layout of the room, one person had to hide in the farthest corner of the room while the other used the bathroom just to have a tiny bit of privacy. The next morning we spent the entire day out. When we came back, I asked if the door had been repaired. The front desk told me the maintenance staff “didn’t have time.” Instead, they moved us to another room that was actually a bit worse than the one we had originally booked.
